teaching12My desire with teaching is to fill the students with curiosity and courage. I want to empower them with a very practical and strong knowledge that they can create their own work once they leave drama school. They do not have to wait to be given an opportunity.
I use my breadth of experience and interests working across many genres and theatrical languages to find what is most useful and inspiring to each student.

I teach devising, clown, performance and object work.

During a process I will share exercises, practitioners and work that have influenced my practice.

The industry is brutal and seems to work on a system that only encourages those who are able to market themselves. It breaks my heart to work with brilliantly imaginative and bright human beings who don’t want to or are unable to work within the existing hierarchies of the business. I want to give them acting skills that can be applied in commercial and classic performance whilst also offering another option for those who need a different arena to shine.

I love teaching, it’s energizing and I learn a lot from the act of trying to communicate with others.

Recent teaching has been at Central School of Speech and Drama devising and directing And Then the Fall and East 15 directing The World Turned Upside Down. Jamie also taught clown at Physical Fest 2013 in Liverpool.
